FAQ's

What is the Rural in Reach (RinR) Program?

RinR is a health and well-being service located in Perth at Womens Health and Family Services (for more info go to www.whfs.org.au) and partnered with regional women’s health centres and the WA Community Resource Network (see regional locations). The Program provides support to rural and remote communities around WA via video conference at participating Community Resource Centres (CRCs).
Can anyone use RinR?
Yes. RinR is a program for all women and their families (including men) around WA. We have highly trained staff who can assist with a diverse range of issues from specialist areas such as alcohol and other drug use, women’s health and family and domestic violence to more general health and well-being concerns.
Individuals (women and men), families and community groups from all cultures can access the RinR program.  Interpreter services are also available if required.
What kind of support can I get?
RinR can provide you with information, support and counselling for various health and well-being queries/concerns. This can be in the form of a one-off information session or through ongoing counselling.
RinR also provides a range of scheduled Community Talks based on health and well-being topics of interest identified by rural communities.
Is there any cost involved?
RinR counselling support and Community Talks are FREE and all other health & wellbeing services offered by RinR are FREE or low cost.
Have a chat with a Health Consultant on 1800 998 399 to find out more.
Do I have to tell anyone at the CRC why I want to talk to RinR?
No. The only information you need to provide is your name, contact number and the day/time you want to see someone from RinR.
You can even call RinR yourself on 1800 998 399 to make an appointment with one of the RinR Health Consultants.
I don’t normally talk about my problems, how do I know I can trust RinR staff?
The health and well-being support that RinR provides via video conferencing is safe and confidential. The link has the same level of security as internet banking.
What you share with the RinR Health Consultant will stay between the two of you unless there are any concerns about your safety or the safety of someone else.
You can discuss this further with a RinR Health Consultant during your appointment or you can call 1800 998 399.
How long is each appointment and how often will I need to use the RinR Program?
Appointments go for about an hour. How often you have an appointment really depends on the support that’s needed. The number and length of sessions is something that can be discussed with a Health Consultant during your appointment.
I don’t use computers often so will someone help me?
CRC staff and RinR Health Consultants are trained in using the video conferencing equipment. You will not have to do anything other than come along to your appointment.
Why can’t I access the RinR Program by phone instead of by video conferencing?
We offer our services via video conferencing because it is almost like being in the room with someone who is able to provide you with professional health and well-being support.  However, if you do prefer to speak with a RinR Health Consultant over the phone (this is up to you) you can discuss this with the Health Consultant at your appointment or you can simply call 1800 998 399.
